Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

No it’s Mick rocketing around Smithfield Market on a folding bike! And he’s spotted himself on the official Smithfield Nocturne website. We’re not sure about his racing line round this bend! For full results, and the answers to your questions where did Mick come? did Brompton beat Dahon? & more pics of the event last Saturday click here.

Neville Stacey & Perry Brody

In homage to the great Neville Brody, who’s face now adorns our creative wall, advertising the forthcoming D&AD New Blood Exhibition we thought it a jolly wheeze to post some look-a-likey pics of us in Mick’s currently unsold “Neville” silver jacket. Anybody appearing in the zard studio before said item has been sold on ebay may befall the same fate. Mehmet your up tomorrow!

The 18:32 to Whitstable is now boarding

A fantastic result at the weekend… not Roger Federer becomming the greatest tennis player of all time but Mick competing at the Folding Bike Challenge at the Smithfield Nocturne in London. With an army of supporters, Mick was unfazed by the record field in this year’s race and made a promising start, leading the competitors off in the Le Mans style sprint to unfold the bike. (see pic below) A mention on the tannoy, and 4 laps later Mick completed the course in a personal best time, only just outside the qualification places for the elite final later that night. Well done Mick, a fantastic effort and congratulations on raising over £350 for the charity mate! We’ll be putting some more pics on flickr later in the week and also more information on the official Smithfield Nocture website.

The day has nearly arrived…

Mick’s challenge to win the Folding Bike Challenge at Smithfield Nocturne takes place tomorrow! We’re blaring out Eye of the Tiger for him in the studio this afternoon and he’ll be off for pasta at Bada Bing later! Heats start at 6pm at Smithfield Market. We’re not quite sure what he’ll be wearing but I’ve seen him looking at this suit! He’s riding for Cancer Research and there’s still time to sponsor him at www.justgiving.com/michaelstacey. Good luck Mick

On yer bike…

Director Mick is in training for the Smithfield Nocture folding bike challenge in June 2009. With three laps around historic Smithfield Market the folding bike race, with it’s ‘Le Mans start’ proves a “visual spectacle for fans”. There is now a rumour that spectators will have to pay to witness Mick’s performance this June. If you want to see the “Champ” in training… he’s on the Brompton about 5.15pm hurtling down St John’s Road! The fanclub will be out in force on 20 June 2009. http://www.smithfieldnocturne.co.uk/

Creative Date 001: Alan Aldridge at Design Museum

Kicking off the 2009 Creative Date series, Zard visited the Alan Aldridge retrospective at the Design Museum. Dubbed the “graphic entertainer” in the 60s & 70s, Aldridge illustrated lyric books for The Beatles, created album covers for The Who and Elton John and was Art Director for Penguin. It’s a truly psychedelic, magical, visual feast. The show is on till the end of the month. Good choice Mick!
